College Counseling Program

We provide a unique, two-step approach blending classroom and 1-on-1 support through the entire college admissions process.

Our program helps students stay organized, stay productive, and even enjoy the process of applying to college. Once you enroll, we meet with you individually to assess your student profile and make a strong college list. The 2018 program then begins officially on July 30th with a four-week writing workshop that teaches students how to write for college admissions. Each class starts with a lecture based on Serena and Alex's many college admissions insights. After lecture, we guide a concentrated writing and revision workshop in a supportive, creative environment.

UC Applications are completed by the end of the workshop, and Common Application materials are drafted and ready for 1-on-1 revision following the course.

After the workshop, we provide 1-on-1 support (Skype, phone, or in-person) until each student's final admissions deadline.

These sessions are to provide support in polishing all written material and customizing student responses for each school. This has been a wonderful experience both for our students and for us as we help students define their educational goals more precisely to create winning supplemental essays.

Our college program is highly personalized, so we have very limited spots. There are ten students per instructor. Please call Alex at 510-766-1189 to hold a seat in our course.

The August Workshop

MWF, 2:30 - 5:30p from July 30th to August 24th at the Silicon Valley Marriott. In this workshop, students will:

organize all application tasks
draft powerful and authentic personal statements and short answers
work intensively on their writing in groups of four or fewer
revise and polish drafts to develop the strongest possible command of language

We read every word each student writes and provide targeted, personalized written commentary on all long statements and short answers. In the final two weeks of the writing process, all student work is thoroughly proofread.

1-on-1 Sessions

July 30th until each student's final admissions deadlines via Skype, phone, or in-person meetings. Over the course of these sessions, students will:

customize all writing for each school
research specific details about each school to show strong personal connection
receive scholarship essay coaching to use written material for external funding opportunities
receive interview coaching to communicate effectively in-person and over Skype with admissions counselors and interviewers
